In some circumstances a tree may outgrow its surrounding area and will need to have a crown reduction in order to reduce its size. This is basically a big haircut to the main shape of the tree, reducing a percentage of its height and width as can be seen from the pictures. When this is carried out correctly it does not harm or damage the tree in any way. In most circumstances it will encourage new growth and can be used to bring a mannered shape back to a tree that has grown out of proportion.
